Our sweet Sophie got glasses yesterday!

We had to run to the store for a few things afterwards. I told her she could get ANY treat she wanted because it was such a BIG DAY!! She chose white powdered donuts! (Which is a really big deal since I never buy donuts!) She gobbled them right up! When I asked if I could have one, she sweetly gave me 1/4 of one! :)

Just a cute sidenote: Sophie asked me the other day how come I didn't work?!?! I laughed out loud & then I told her that daddy goes to work so I can stay home with them. (I decided not to tell her that it's the hardest, most exhausting, most rewarding job I've ever had ;) She proceeded to tell me that I should try going to work & let daddy stay home with them. :) ha!

SNOW weekend

It was snowing outside when I took the girls to Pre-School on Thursday morning.

They were all dressed up for their Valentine's Day party at school!

After naps that day (they had early release), we went out to play in the snow (you just never know how long it'll last around here)!

Libby is actually enjoying making a snow angel here (the snow was hitting her in the face).

I rolled a big snowball for our snowman, which ended up just being a square snowhead! You can tell how big the flakes were by looking at the one on Sophie's nose!

Max woke up from his nap & played outside too!

The picnic table was quickly being covered up by snow!

Yea!!!! Daddy made it home safely from work!!!

He was so excited to go outside & play with the kids in the snow.

This was Friday. We had no electricity & couldn't get out of our driveway! We did have fun as a family, but enjoyed the day before more! ;) Our sweet neighbors were able to get out & got us some firewood! We eventually were able to get out of the driveway & went to my Mom & Gene's house for warmth!

The Rogers family came over because their power had been out for 3 days!!!

In honor of our sweet Chloe's 6th birthday yesterday, I want to share with you my favorite Christmas gift that the girls got this year:

These are the PBK dolls that I had wanted to get the girls for awhile. They've always had a CHLOE & SOPHIE doll. About a year ago, I wrote PBK & told them our story about our sweet baby girl in heaven, Chloe, whom God used to change our lives forever! I asked them to name their next doll LIBBY, so we could have all of our girls "together". They didn't come out with a LIBBY doll, but they came out with JOY (their Christmas doll). Since our Libby's birthday is two days after Christmas, we thought that was close enough! :) THEN they came out with twin babies, MAX & MEREDITH!

Sophie was playing with SOPHIE & CHLOE the other day. I overheard her saying "Come on, CHLO". This brought tears to my eyes because Sophie always calls her sister, Libby, "Lib". Libby always calls Sophie, "Poph" (sounds like "foff"). Anyway, I just thought it was so sweet that Sophie had already nicknamed CHLOE like she was one of the girls! :)

I just happened to run into her at Wal-Mart where I was frantically trying to figure out how I was going to pull off 2 poodle skirts in less than 24 hours?!?!

We went to the zoo! Surprise, surprise!

She did this ALL on her own. In case you're wondering.... it's Sophie & Leighton playing together in their bathing suits - complete with trees, mice, a sky, & a sun (in the corner of course). I clearly remember coloring pictures all of the time with a sun up in the corner!

Sophie ORIGINALLY got these Dora pj's for Christmas 2007.

Here she is wearing her NEW pj's. Look how big they are on her.

Well... along came Christmas 2008 & being the thrifty person I am - I packaged her pj's back up! (Please don't make fun of me! She LOVED these pj's! Plus, she didn't NEED anymore pj's.)

It was so funny to see her open them up! (I'm not going to lie - I was a little nervous... I thought she may feel a little jipped!) You would have thought it was her first time to lay eyes on these beloved pj's! She was soooo excited!

Here she is wearing them TODAY! They're too short all over, but she doesn't care! I think I've even tried to pass them on to her younger cousin, Daisy, but they didn't make it!!

So, my question is........ should I wrap them up for this Christmas???? ;)

What have we been up to this summer while it's been....

soooooo hot - you gotta wear shades!?!?!

We've started climbing on everything,

ridden on our hand-me-down Barbie Jeep (thanks, Dori),

gotten reallllllly brave,

played a lot,

started using sign language,

developed a little bit of a 'tude (!),

gone to Daddy's softball games,

started looking like a Big Boy,

acted like a monkey,

made lots of corn on the cob,

grilled out a whole LOT,

went to the zoo (I'll spare you ALL the pics),

fought just a little bit,

helped Mommy with chores,

had just a couple (!) meltdowns,

went to a wedding & caught up with old friends,

been so dog-gone tired we've fallen asleep on the floor,

and still wearing our shades!

I hope you all are enjoying your summer! We are! We're trying to beat the heat here in Texas!! I will try to be a little more consistent with updating our blog (ahem, for Rebecca)!

Hi y'all! These pictures aren't the greatest & they don't even include everyone in our family (sorry Max)! It's that time of year again (well at least every other day in Texas)! We went to the zoo with the Hurckman family (minus Paul). I know y'all were wondering when I'd start posting zoo pictures again, right? ;) Well, guess what????? We got a family zoo pass this year! Oh yeah, LOTS of zoo blog posts! ;)

Actually, I don't think we ever made it to any "real" animals. We hung out in the children's area for a long time & tried to ride the monorail. FYI - the monorail is closed on the weekdays until sometime in March.

Oh, How He Loves Us!

Five years ago today our sweet little Chloe Marie Cunningham was born. Most of you all were with us during our "Chloe Season". She was stillborn at 37 weeks due to anencephaly (a fatal birth defect). It was the most difficult season we'll hopefully ever have to face, BUT it was such a sweet time with the Lord. I've never again felt such grace & peace that could only come from the Lord!

For the past several days I've been reading through Ecclesiastes. So today I opened my Bible & started reading the next chapter, chapter 6. It was about how a stillborn child is better off than a man who gains everything but doesn't know Jesus because she is at rest in heaven! I guess I didn't know that stillborn children were even mentioned in the Bible!?! I just thought it was a neat little way that the Lord let me know that He loves me & is thinking about me today! He sure has blessed us a lot in the last 5 years, hasn't He?

Now that the girls are getting older, I wonder what Chloe would have been like? Would she have been talkative like Sophie or maybe a lil' firecracker like Libby?? God only knows! I can't wait to hug & kiss on her one day!! :)

Trip to Iowa. Just picture a Griswald's Family Vacation movie. It was so difficult traveling with 3 young children. We went to Iowa for my dad's memorial mass. He died in August & we had a service for him here & then his family had a mass for him in Iowa.

Anniversary weekend in Ft. Worth

Aaron & I celebrated 7 years of marriage this past weekend. We got to spend two nights (kid-free) in downtown Ft. Worth. Thanks MOM! I was so excited to eat 5 meals with my husband where we could actually talk & enjoy our food.

We could have done a better job of taking pics of where we actually ate, but instead you'll just get the self taken photos in the hotel!

BEFORE we went to Razzoo's & Four Day Weekend on Friday night.

So what does a couple do when their children aren't around to take pictures of? Well, of course, they take pics of each other! Don't laugh ;)

I was 1 out of about 10 other family members that caught the nasty stomach bug after we were all together this past Sunday. I was feeling pretty yucky by the time Aaron got home from work on Tuesday. That evening Aaron took all the kids outside with him to clean the boat while I took a bath. He stayed home with me on Wednesday so I could rest & get better! He took care of the kids all day for me. It sure did the trick! I'm feeling 100% better today! I have a wonderful husband - just thought I'd brag a little! :)

I put Libby down for a nap & heard her in there fussing. She normally goes right to sleep & she was also yelling a little. So I went in there to check on her & this is what I found. I was laughing so hard but had to grab the camera first!!

So at the end of nap time I heard her yelling again saying "Nooooooooo!" I went to check on her & this is what I found! I was cracking up again (but had to grab the camera first)!!

This time she was calling it her hat!

Max had his 6 month checkup this week. He's actually about 6 1/2 months old though.

He weighs 19.1 pounds & is 27 inches long. He is sitting up like a champ & is still trying to crawl.

We went over to Dori & Scott's house last night for pizza. The kids had a blast together! At one point in the evening, all of the kids were being loud. Scott joked that it was a daycare - just drop them off at the front door! I remember when we'd go over to their house (before kids) & watch movies together -now we have 6 kids between us. I am so thankful for Dori's friendship. I'm glad we've stayed friends over the years!

I heard him fussing one morning & found him like this. Poor lil' guy! I had to run & get the camera before I rescued him! :)

WHAT?!?! No!!!! He's rocking back & forth on all fours :( I told Max that he can no longer hang around Cooper (doing the same thing) & Gideon (early crawler). They are bad influences on him ;) Ha! Hi everyone! I am back after a break from the blogging world. We've been super busy & you'll see posts soon about what we've been up to. For now, here's Sophie at her first dance class! I don't have any of her actually in the class (we could only see her through a one-way mirror). She's taking tap & ballet at Dance Xpressions from Ms. Cathy (my old high school drill team captain). Let me tell you what - those 3 years old are stinkin' adorable!

1. If you could inherit a comfortable home in any city in the world that you could use but not sell, where would you want it to be?

Somewhere with great weather & big trees!! Probably Colorado or something. It's too stinkin' hot right now in Texas!

2. If you could be instantly fluent in one other language that you currently do not read or speak, which would it be? Why?

Libby's Language. She speaks this language that is half Japanese & half Chinese. It's so cute! She looks at me & just talks to me like I understand her.

3. If you were given an hour to spend an unlimited amount of money in any store in the world where would it be?

Rachelle got me thinking in the right direction :)
I would need to change it from a "store" to an "organization" and give my unlimited amount of money to Blood:Water Mission/1000 Wells Project. It's amazing what clean water can do for people.

4. If you had to give your children to the care of someone famous, whom would you pick?

Gosh, I don't know. I really don't know of many famous people that I look up to :(

5. If you could cast an actor now alive to play you in a new film, what kind of film would it be and whom would you choose?

Not sure who the actress would be, but it would definitely be a funny, light-hearted, hopeless romantic movie.

6. If you could have an elegant dinner alone with anyone presently alive, whether you know them or not, who would you want it to be?

My husband. We don't get much alone time (which is ok - it's the stage of life we're in). So I would enjoy an elegant dinner alone with him.

7. If you could resolve any single dispute, anywhere in the world what would you solve?

I agree with Rachelle on this one....Child abuse and neglect....breaks my heart....

8. If you were instantly able to play one musical instrument perfectly that you have never played before, what would it be?

Probably either the guitar or piano. I love acoustic worship music with just the guitar. You see, I have absolutely no musical ability AT ALL. So I'd be really excited to play anything - even the recorder ;) Ha!

Aaron's Birthday Week

July 2nd was Aaron's 27th birthday! He actually had a wonderful birthday WEEK! His work friends took him out to lunch all week, we had friends over for cake & ice cream, & we went to Simply Fondue Saturday night to celebrate! If you know Aaron at all, you know he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to eat! Needless to say, this past week was a great week for Aaron!

Now he says he's going on a diet! :)

While I'm on the subject of my wonderful husband - look what he did!!

Here are a few pictures from our LAST appointment with our midwife, Sorani. I was feeling a little sad on my way to this appointment! We always have a great time visiting with everyone at Family Birth Services. If you think about it, I've been going to appointments with them on & off for about 5 years! Thankfully, they are like family & I know we will get together periodically!

Sorani was my midwife for Max's birth. She was also at both Sophie & Libby's births. Sorani is such a sweet & caring friend!

3 Months of Mr. Max

Our lil' guy is 3 months old!! He's not so little though.... he weighed 15 lbs. 3 oz. at his 12 week appointment with our midwife! Sophie was 15 lbs. at 12 weeks & Libby was 15 lbs. at 1 year!!!

Our sweet Sophie turned 3 on April 22nd! We started out the day by making

We ate a Chick-A-Way (Sophie's language) for dinner. It was family night so they had a balloon guy & face painting. Sophie also had ice cream (more sugar...)

When we got back we sang Happy Birthday to her & she blew out her candles. Here she is super excited about being sung to (she loves it when people sing Happy Birthday).

I can't believe that Sophie is 3 already!! I remember the day that she was born- we were all just thrilled for her to arrive!!! We were so thankful that God blessed us with a healthy little girl! She brings so much joy & entertainment to our family!

What Libby Does with Her Food

When Libby doesn't like something or is done eating - she puts her food in strange places! I've caught her putting food in her hair, mashing it in her ear, sticking it in her shirt sleeve, putting it on her shoulder, & sticking it up her nose!

Our lil' man had his 6 week check-up with our midwife, Sorani.

He weighs 12 lbs. 1 oz. & is 22 3/4 inches long.

Let's compare this lil' chunk to the girls:
Sophie at 6 weeks: 11 lbs. 4 oz & 22 inches
Libby at 7 weeks: 9 lbs. 14 oz. & 21 3/4 inches

I'm curious as to how lil' Max is going to look...
Will he be super chubby like Sophie or little bitty like Libby?!?!
Looks like he's passing Sophie up as far as his weight at this point!!
Is it possible for a baby to be chubbier than Sophie was?????
I didn't think so... but we'll see!!

Today I was responding to one of my friends on Myspace. When I went to her page she had a Kari Jobe song playing. Sophie had been talking, talking, talking while sitting right next to me. When the song started playing, Sophie got really still & quiet. I looked at her & she said (in the most angelic voice) "that's you singing, mama!" It was so sweet! Now if you have ever heard Kari Jobe's voice - it's beautiful! And basically - I can't sing to save my life!

Here are 7 things you may not know about me:

1. All five of us have a "2" in our birthday. Matter of fact, Libby is the only one with any other number at all. Aaron: July 2, Me: August 2, Sophie: April 22, Libby: December 27, & Max: March 2. When I was overdue with Max - my friend Missy said that he had to be born on March 2 because of all of our birthdays have a 2 in them! She was right! :) (Our sweet baby Chloe's birthday is January 10 - no 2...)

2. I have an obsession with trees. Yes, trees. Anytime we drive into a neighborhood with big established trees - I always comment on them. I love them & wish we had them. Don't get me wrong - I appreciate our 2 stick trees in the front yard that will be big in probably 15-20 years :(

3. I love it when Aaron takes a new route home. I love to just look out the window & check everything out. He has said that I look like a dog going for a ride - just staring out the window! Although, I don't hang my head out the window with my tongue hanging out! Ha! I told my mom that he said that & one day we were in the car together & she said "Ha! You kind of do look like a dog just staring out the window!" Nice...

4. I would love to open a coffee house/breakfast place where lil' old folks come everyday to drink coffee and talk. I think it would be neat to hear their stories!

5. I LOVE fried pickles! I know - sounds pretty disgusting, huh? But if you've ever had one - you, too, know how good they really are!!

6. Although I was a High Hat (our high school dance team), I feel like a fish out of water on the dance floor! They are two totally different things - structured dance vs. freestyle dance. I loved being in High Hats - but feel COMPLETELY awkward on the dance floor.

7. I am directionally challenged. Severely directionally challenged. Let's just leave it at that.

It's been a long time since I've posted a blog :( I've started a few - but haven't finished them. Another reason why I haven't blogged recently is because our camera is broken!! :( So sad.... we'll get another one really soon! :)

What's been going on with the Cunningham Family?

Libby turned 1 on Dec. 27th! We had a fun party with lots of family & friends! She LOVED her birthday cupcake! Libby finally got her first tooth about a week ago! I think she's cutting another one today - poor lil' girl! :( Oh, and she's putting on some weight too!

Sophie is full of energy & TALKATIVE! ;) She's constantly making "coffee" for me in her little kitchen. She also likes to "bake" things for Libby & Max. :) Oh, and she's STILL a big Dora fan! I don't think she'll ever give up on "her friend Dora"!

On January 10 we remembered our precious little girl in heaven, Chloe Marie. This was her 4th birthday. I just can't believe it's already been 4 years - a very busy 4 years for sure!!! What a wonderful gift - to be expecting our little boy when we are remembering our little angel's birthday! :) God has been sooo good to us!! Even though life is crazy & is about to crazier - I wouldn't want it any other way! We miss our sweet baby girl & can't wait to hug & kiss on her when we get to heaven!

Aaron has been super busy with projects! Justin & Aaron finished painting our bedroom, he built amazing shelves in the playroom (pics soon) & painted it, & will be painting Max's room soon. Also, our former dining room will be converted into the office next week. Aaron's saying: no more projects, Melissa! ;)

This weekend is Max's shower. I'm looking forward to seeing our family & friends - especially those I don't get to see very often! We're about 3 weeks away from his "due date". We'll see when he actually arrives. ;) Which brings me to another point - Aaron is going to do his blog again! So stay tuned around February 19 - beginning of March. I'll send out an email when I go into labor to let you know to watch the blog :)

The First Ones on the Block!!

We decorated for Christmas this past weekend. I know, I know... it's not Thanksgiving yet! We didn't have much going on & decided to go ahead & get it done before things get really busy. Plus, I love the white lights on our tree! :)

THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS

We went to the fair this past weekend with Rhett, Rebecca, Fielder, & Linda. We had a great time! The weather was pretty good - it got hot towards the end.

I know this picture isn't the best - but it's the only one we took of all 4 of us! :( It was chilly in the morning - so the camera fogged up..... Oh well, if you squint your eyes just right - you can see us! ;) Actually, Sophie's in the front seat of the stroller with the blanket over her head... oh well, we tried!

This was soooo funny! We were about to leave & when we looked down at her - she had fallen asleep with a sucker in her mouth! Now how many kiddos fall asleep with candy in their mouth? She must have been super tired!

We had a great time & it was a lot easier than I thought taking the girls! We can't wait to go next year! Although, we'll have an 8 month old little boy with us! That's hard to believe!?!?

Time for Breakfast!

Sophie made Libby breakfast the other morning. I even overheard Sophie praying with Libby before they ate. It was so cute - she said "Jesus, thank you for this food, in Your Name I pray, AMEN". Sophie's "amen" is really loud & really southern! It's really cute! :)

For those of you who don't know - we are having another baby!! He (yes - a boy:) is due somewhere at the end of February (or possibly the beginning of March)! It's been so fun (and sooo different) looking at boy things!!! I think I'm getting used to blue instead of pink! ;) His clothes are so much easier! I'll only have to pick out a pair of pants/shorts & a shirt! That seems easy enough. ;) We are super excited about this huge blessing that the Lord has given us! Libby & Max will only be 14 months apart! I know - I know..... I will be really busy! And extremely blessed! :) We can't wait to meet little......

What's in Sophie's Tummy?

I've been asking Sophie what's in Mommy's tummy lately. She always responds with "baby brother". Today while she was eating breakfast she told me that she has a bunny in her tummy! Which doesn't surprise me at all since she LOVES her bunny that she sleeps with! :0) Too cute!

Here's Sophie eating popcorn with Dora! She got the popcorn out of the pantry & asked me to make it for her & Dora. This is after she wanted to feed Dora Libby's baby food, raisins, etc. Thank goodness popcorn isn't messy! :) Notice that she put a bib on Dora. Too cute! She's turning into a little mommy!

We finally did it! :) I cut the top of her pacifier off to wean her off of it! She kept giving it to me telling me it was broken, I needed to wash it, & then I needed to dry it. So after a little crying & talking to me about it - she finally fell asleep without it!! :)

Sophie's 1st Swimming Lessons!

This was her first day of swimming lessons. Notice the pout she has on her face! She had that same look the entire lesson that day! It was so cute!

Notice the pout is still there! It cracked me up! :) After two weeks of swimming lessons, she was "swimming" from one person to another, putting her face in the water & blowing bubbles, & having a great time! I'm really glad we did it!

Our sweet girls.....

Here are just a few pictures of our girls over the last several months...

Sophie loves to put stickers on everything! Including Libby! Sophie even put a Boots (for all you Dora fans out there) sticker in Libby's mouth before! Sophie was looking at Libby's mouth yelling "Booooooots, Booooooots". It was cute! Don't worry - I told Sophie not to put things in Libby's mouth again! :)

OK... this one is cute! Sophie put this outfit together all by herself! She started out in her jammies - then had to get her vest & hat! To top the outfit off - what did she need??? The vacuum extension! Pretty funny, huh? :) Sophie's Aunt Tennah & I joke that she has Tennah's eclectic style when it comes to what she likes to wear!

The Dallas Zoo

On May 12th we took the girls to the zoo. Sophie girl had a blast looking at the animals, riding the carousel, playing with daddy while little Libby was just along for the ride! We had a wonderful time as a family.

Melissa and I are proud to announce the birth of Libby. She was born at 9:19PM and weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces. She is so talented and already blowing bubbles :~)

april just checked melissa and she is dilated to 8 and a half cm and libby's head is at a +1 station!! in april's words, "melissa should be pushing soon." aaron, melissa, april, and surani are in their room right now and melissa is on the bed in quite a lot of pain...please pray for a continued healthy labor and delivery and for God to continue to bless melissa with His strength, peace, and comfort. :) she is SUCH a trooper!! more to come soon...

Ok so her contractions have been very regular for the last couple of hours and they have not been letting up. They keep getting worse which is a good thing. Our support team is arriving so we are good there. Keep us in your prayers. Melissa is doing well and is up and walking around. Stay tuned...

Well, after a VERY short walk, Melissa is having some pretty serious contractions that are having her embrace the side of the couch and yell and cry. I hear her having one now. Gotta go...

Well, Melissa's labor stalled out about 5am this morning. April and Sorani went home and hopefully will be back later on this evening. Melissa has been resting today and contracting some. Although her contractions she is having are intense, they are spread out. She is dialted to a 5 and a half now so that is good news and shows she is making progress. We are going to go walking in a while to try to help the process along. Stay tuned...

Hi everyone, well for those keeping up, Melissa is officially 1 week overdue today. She went to her appointment at 1:30 today and at that time she was 100% effaced (her cervix thinned out), and 4cm dialated out of a possible 10cm. She has been having regular contractions almost all day. As of the last couple of hours, they have been really consistent and somewhat painful. We are not calling in the troops yet but feel it could be ANY moment. Stay tuned!
